Pyrus had to make the crossing into sicily, and the straits were being guarded heavily. So he decided once an to dare the open sea, veering further south. He landed at taermina, it was called tarminium back then, on the east coast of sicily. And the greeks welcomed him there. Then he made his way further south toward syracuse, picking up allies along the way. When he gets near the vicinity of sy Syracuse, the carthaginian siegers and the fleet that are blockating the harbor, they all melt away in retreat.
