The Four Levels of Comparative Analysis

Adler says that essentially everyone skips the inspectional stage and that's why we'll spend a little bit more time there today. He calls it inspectional and inspectionals when you spend as little time with the book as possible to understand the structure of the book before then going into the analysis of the book itself. The third level is when you get into the deep reading of the text and the fourth is when you are comparing different books, comparing different texts.
