The Potawatomi Massacre
John Brown was one of the anti-slavery people who went to Kansas in 1855. He led a fighting force as he and his neighbors went to defend the town of Lawrence. On May 24th of 1856, Brown led a small party in dragging five pro-sla slavery men out of their cabins and hacking them to death. This would come to be known as the Potawatomi massacre.
