"I grew up mostly saying that we were Mexican and I'm Mexican American because my dad is from Mexico, his family's from Mexico. And so then after college, when I finally went there, lived there, I did feel sort of like a tug," he says. "And so I think I do feel really comfortable saying Ecuadorian, Mexican American."
