The most common type of housing in the UK and Ireland is a semi-detached house. Semi-detached means, well, nearly detached - you've got one neighbor on one side. For an affordable price, more or less, if you're lucky, you get quite a lot of privacy. But it doesn't cost you a fortune. And possibly a cheaper house, even cheaper than semi- Detached, would be a terraced house.
