Guyana's Decision to Sever All Connections With Venezuela

There are no roads leading between Guyana and its neighbor Venezuela. The two countries have a territorial dispute, but why has Guyana severed all connections with Venezuela? It's hard to build roads in Guyana so there's always been some limitation of how much connections and traffic could have based upon the geography of the country. So it's probably the interest of Guyana not to have too many roads to Venezuela because that would enable them to actually come over to Guyana and take the territory that they're claiming.
