The English Language Is a Great River

The difference between french and english is that french has attempted to stay pure. Whereas ours is more rambling and open to because we've accepted words. The french actually have a system, don't they, where they try to keep foreign words out of the language. They have an academy. We have always resisted an academy. So they have a sort of legal authority who can dictate and preside over language. Have to say it's bot ofa losing battle.
