The Limits of Free Speech
John Stuart Mill's harm principle distinguishes legitimate exercises of free speech from illegitimate ones. He says that the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a community against his will is to prevent harm to others. But he had this view on which most speech just didn't actually cause harm. So once we recognize that, there's this difficult question of where we want to draw the line and the debate about no platforming.
