The Ptolemaic Vision of the Universe
When he was growing up, the mainstream understanding of the structure of the heavens was a pitolomaic system. So we call it the Ptolemaic system after the late antique Alexandre and astronomer Claudio's P tolema. The underpinnings are Aristotelian, so there's a philosophical dimension to this notion of the cosmos. And that is a fundamental basic conceptualisation of the cosmos - but didn't that tell us the universe was unchanging? Yes, but the circular motion of the heavenly bodies was not change as far as Aristotel was concerned.So you accepted that and took that on, and the Catholic Church later took it on, emphatically
