The Asi Muthel Map Is Not an Asamutha Map
This is not an asamutha map, which was a common type in the mediaeval period. The way that ancient ailiens describes it is that they used egypt as the centre. In any map that is doing that, the equator would not be straight. This is really useful for keeping the lines of latitude straight, but then everything sort of gets warped in different ways.
