In the 14 fifties, richard, duke of york became the leader of the opposition to henry's government. This wasn't aimed against henry himself, or, at this stage, his kingship. It was more a sign of the increasingly bitter rivalry between york and somerset. And of course, tensions do spill over into violence. At saint alban's, the first battle of the wars of the roses, which was in 14 55.
