At the end of the 17th century, more and more people are turning to finding a source of knowledge that isn't amenable to theological disputations. This discipline of natural theology became fantastically popular as more and more clerics did science in one hand and interpreted it theologically in the other. The Scriptures encourage us to study nature. If we study nature, we'll be able to get a pure, unadulterated picture of reality.
