The Trouble With the US-China Military Strategy on Taiwan

In early 2000s, the US-China had close to overwhelming preponderance of air and naval power. Today that balance has shifted and it's a much more contested environment. Chen Shreibian was a zealot with frankly almost zero geopolitical radar at all. He abused the support. We sent from Washington very senior emissaries quietly to tell him to knock it off. The administration worked through it. It did not change our basic resolve under the Taiwan Relations Act and didn't change our one China policy.
