The Tragedy of Choice

With utilitarianism the common currency is happiness. So you could do a calculus which allowed you to play off different options and decide which one was the best one scientifically. But with pluralists there's no currency like that within which to compare them. And that makes it extremely difficult. I mean how do you choose between the two actions? Yes, that's right. The tragedy of choice is a key feature of Berlin's position. whichever choice you make you forego other possible options which would have been good in their own way. That seems to be a tragic position. Exactly.
