The Rise and Fall of the East Germans
East Germans used subtle tactics to undermine dissidents. They would slowly drive them so crazy they wouldn't have energy for dissident activities. The Cold War ended and this stuff was largely forgotten about. But today we're living in a world where, of course, we're producing an enormous data exhaust. This makes the potential for these kinds of zerzetsung style attacks on people deemed to be deplorables all the more possible or feasible. And indeed, it can be automated as well now that artificial intelligence is becoming so sophisticated.
