What the Audience Wants in Art
I think it's very easy to lose sight of what the audience for a work of art wants. They want the creator. Janet Malcolm is a good example of this or both. At the end of Michael Lewis book, you feel like you've been hanging out with him and have a window into his world. And my worry when I was reading them was that people weren't having that. That they were getting something that was too abstract.
