The Lack of a Buffer Zone Between the Parent and the Child
The child is so used to the overwhelming presence of an unpredictable parent, they're so used to it that they can't let that parent go. And like every characterological abnormality and every maladaptive trait we develop, it can become habitual. The reason why we call this lack as lacking is because in this case, the kid doesn't feel like they have a sufficient buffer zone between themselves and the desires parent.
