Steven Spielberg was in production trying to get a saving private Ryan game made. He noticed his young son playing Golden Eye 60 and saw that it was compelling, violent and flashy. The first Medal of Honor game played basically like a really limited Golden Eye port with World War II guys,. Nazis and allies finding each other.
