There's a the moment that gladrill and halberon share on that log which comes after the interrogation scene. A really popular theory for a very long time was that adar was somehow a twisted version of gladrill's dead brother finrod. i don't believe they have the rights to the word the name maglin it's not in the lord of the rings or the appendices so they cannot call this character maglin he's been called adar which is father.
