How to Beat the Blank Page Problem
Lead is newspaper speak for the beginning of your story. A lead may be as short as a first sentence, but it needn't be that short. So if you think of articles in magazines like The New Yorker where the articles are really extraordinarily long, a lead may actually be 10 or 12 paragraphs. There are a bunch of different kinds of leads you can use.
