Wherever christianity has gone, you've had to take wine in order to celebrate communion. Aztecs did not like alcohol and a priest who drank was killed. A regular person would have their heads shaved in public. So why was alcohol not a part of the aztec culture? It's quite hard to see how aztec culture worked with drinking. The conquistodors planted vines so they could start making wine for conversion.
