So first he tried to persuade them to join his mutineers and they refused. And so Hayes and his men drove Cornelis and his men off. After that Cornelis sent an attack party to try to kill them. They fought back and after a really bloody battle, the soldiers executed five of Cornelis' men and they captured Cornelis himself as they waited for rescue.
