Change in the birth rate is going to have very big long-term effects. One of the predictors of population growth is women being economically empowered and having control over their reproductive choices. But it's hard to do that when you can't have much influence on there. And I know a lot of Gen Z folks would say, why should the burden be on that person who has just been insulted or offended? Why should they have to argue that we should go to this authority figure?

The United States is currently home to six generations of people. Twenge, PhD, a professor of psychology at San Diego State University, is the author of more than a hundred scientific publications and several books based on her research, including Generations, iGen, and Generation Me. Her research has been covered in Time, The Atlantic, Newsweek, the New York Times, USA TODAY, and the Washington Post. She has also been featured on Today, Good Morning America, Fox and Friends, CBS This Morning, and NPR. She lives in San Diego with her husband and three daughters.
