Is Ampathy a Competitive Edge?
A. A. Dowden's new book is about cultivating ampathy, and making the argument that it offers a competitive edge. He says he was inspired by his young son to write this book after seeing leadership talk about 'the antithesis of ampathetic' The moral argument to be more ampathetic wasn't working for people, so he thought: ok, let's make it a business case instead. This will lead to greater profitability, greater employee engagement, greater customer loyalty - you can't argue with that.
