The Exclusion Zones of the US Military

Franklin Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 on February 19, 1941. The directive allowed the military to set up areas called exclusion zones. Anyone with as little as one-sixteenth of Japanese blood was required to turn themselves in. Fred Korematsu and his family had to abandon their homes in the San Francisco Bay area.
