Is There a Myth in Eemis?

Emis is an amazing story, and its reconstruction is itself a fascinating thing to me. But it's not a great guide to help us think through our own moral problems. Arguments built on myths are built on sand. And that kind of story about agined exceptionalism to the british character somehow provides us with a free pass from various requirements or obligations... That seems to be a nice story to tell about a nation, but not a great basis on which to make policy. I feel that there's an argument for trying to romanticize things at the moment,. like the clapping for cares, the sense that wereall getin going through something together.
