The Seventh Meditation on Hell

The damned are in the infernal abyss akin to this wretched city, where they suffer unspeakable torments. The eyes, in return for all its lustful gazes, shall endure the horrible sight of hell in the devils. Most especially consider what, above all else, makes hell intolerable, the eternity of these pains. In this eternal night there will be eternal despair and infinite blasphemy and rage. Terrify your soul with the words of Isaiah: who among us can dwell with the devouring fire?
