Organizational Dynamics in the United States
From the seventies, it's basically gone downward for most every single institution. With the exception of military and the police, which has more or less kind of remained stagnant. This is like robert putnam's book, a bolling alone. He noticed that among economists, there's a bias in favor of exsit they just kind of assume, oh, if an organization is declining, the best way to deal with that is by voting with your feet, leaving the organization.
