Sherlock's characterization in the pilot is way different than the one that airs Sherlock. Mike was more thoughtful and smug almost or in the pilot he's more innocent it's less intentional less cupid type. He left his writing crop in the mortuary, which made him seem like a bit of a lala-souvenir. The character had to learn how to reverse down the highway on his lunch break so there was some cool maneuvering they were going to do.
