Socrates was known as a gadfly who seduced young men away from political ambition, it was thought. Plato has been representing socrates quite differently and making an implicit defence of him. This is plato's take on the sophists rats. And so this situation that he depicts ray, like all of us, these people are chained, shackled to a wall,. Theyare at least two removes from the real truth, from the sun. The sun is outside of the cave, and the light that is in the cave is mostly artificial, generated by a fire. These were flashy rhetoricians who old the ability to argue right. But why do we think they have wisdom? Well
