The Importance of Team Makeup in Startups

Uber was built out of five different firms that came together to build the Uber firm, you know, the dream team. I think probably the team that's been together gets more credit than the team is just coming together. Some super, I mean, some super groups were great. Traveling Wilburys were awesome. Power station, not so much. You can't walk into a room and have no women on your team. And most diversity in private media firms is bankers and consultants. We have people from the Ivy League and the Nest CAC - exactly country and Western. That will force people to try and hire people that don't look like them.
