Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a secure seed bank in the Norwegian island of Spitzburga near Longyear Bienge. It's 1,300 kilometers from the North Pole and started as a vault to preserve a wide variety of plant seeds. Their duplicate samples are spare copies of seeds held in a gene bank worldwide. The seed vault doesn't attempt to ensure against the loss of seeds in other gene banks during large-scale regional or global crises. Most of the information that we make now gets recorded onto the cloud and to some digital platform,. That if all of that gets wiped out, a lot of that information is gone forever.
