Are You a Friend of the Indigenous Peoples?

The idea was you now essentially to anglicize a indigenous youth. And part of this was the as an idea that the older generations of edigious peoples were a two set in their heathen ways. The practices, a customs, traditions, the use of the language was prohibited. In some cases there was extreme forms of punishment, including physical punishment, for a violating these prohibitions. It's interesting, because at the same time that they were being anglisized, i don't think there was ever really an understanding that even if they succeeded anglicising these youths, that they would ever be treated with the same dignity and respect by white adults.
