Cesime street was born at a time when the government was taking a bigger roll in people's lives. The civil rights act was passed, and the government was getting involved with what was on tv. There were opponents from the very start, notably, missis simply public television refused to air the show. Some educators thought that the pace was too fenetic. And there were people who were really angry with it, suspicious of it. Didn't like it one little bit.
