General Hill is only spoken about in the book as quote unquote daddy Hill. The troops all call him daddy because he's nice. He decides six guys from every unit need to get flogged like later today. Simmerson is enraged. He's humiliated. He knows it sharps work. Yada yada yada. That stuff, it's oddly satisfying despite how tropey I know it is. Like it is there is a whiny jerk who has more power than you should have. And the character that we trust is technically under his thumb and never faces consequences for standing up to him.
