The idea that just performing a set of tasks equals that's human intelligence, I think is really narrow and really problematic. This sort of Cartesian dualism has been shown by centuries of philosophy, but particularly since the 20th century,. It skips all of the physical embodiment, the relationality, the sociality of intelligence. There's an amazing investigation around AI workers based in Kenya using crowd-sourcing to train them. They tend to be people based in the global south being paid $2 or less per hour. And they're just doing like training for this appearance of intelligence. But when you pull back the curtain, what does it look like? You find more people than ever before
