The Power of Human Cultural Evolution
The intersection of those two bodies of knowledge about how cultures evolve and how people learn is a really exciting space. I would also tell myself to study neural networks earlier, just because when I was doing my PhD it wasn't clear that they were going to be so influential. So we're using them as a tool just to classify and to capture structure. But it also is a model, especially as deep learning connects to sequential decision making and abilities that depend on that. The trajectory for me has been taking that perspective and applying it to other aspects of cognition too.
