Darwinism and the Greatest Happiness Principle

John Stuart mill was influenced by jeremy bentham and his godson, john stuart mill. Mill embraced the greatest happiness principle which requires us to acknowledge that actions are right in so far as they tend to promote human happiness. He didn't intend his view to be interpreted in terms of a permanent obligation to maximise general happiness no matter what you're doing. So i think perhaps the er, it's, in a sense, the altruistic, a moral theory par excellence, but for that very reason, it's not a realistic or attractive view of moral life.
