I just thought, here i am, you know, an indian. Nobody's going to watch me, really. And so what was the reaction from the south asian diaspera? The people from south asia had never seen themselves on television as themselves. They'd been mocked. But they'd never seen themselves as ordinary, wonderful people and cooking absolutely gorgeous food. You looked extremely elegant. You were beautiful. Well, that too, i thought i would represent partly me, and i'm a stylish dresser. I wanted to project an attractive india that had a sense of modernity. What i started has not died.
