The Linearity of Life
I think we are taught that there is this very clear linearity to life. And in theories and adult development, they talk about the fact that we go along that path and then something happens. We can't relate in the same way to our friends that we could be for the thing. So from there, we've got to figure out how to rewrite what we want out of our lives. I hate to say it, because nobody likes to be told they're privileged. But if you have never had a major life setback, if you've never suffered discrimination or been sick, that's a massive privilege to live with. It's full of absolute gold.
