The Texas Statute
The state of texas has passed a law that allows private citizens to sue doctors who perform abortions. If the plaintiff is successful, they can collect ten thousand dollars and cover their legal fees. There are no exemptions for rape or incest which is extraordinary. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to block it by a majority of five votes.
