Haley revealed her mother and stepfather were prone to heated arguments. Susan once contemplated tossing Paul's belongings on the front lawn and throwing him out of the house, but never went through with it. Sarah considered Paul a master manipulator who had full control over her sister. In his opinion, Paul's personality lacked positive traits and he spoke of his dead wife with little emotion. The only time he showed emotion was when his face turned red with anger after realizing he was being viewed as a suspect in Susan's death.
