Legend Has It, Rumor Has It

Legend has it means there is a popular belief people hold and not necessarily true. In Colombia, apparently legend has it that the king would adorn himself in gold annually as part of a renewal ceremony. The expression is used for showing that you are reporting something that you have heard but aren't sure if it's really true.
