Theranos and Ruffhead - A New Relationship

Admiral Gary Ruffhead retired from the Navy in 2011 and joined Theranos' Board of Directors in January 2013. He was free to lobby his former colleagues on Theranos' behalf after a one-year moratorium expired. A lieutenant colonel named Eric Weighgar led a team that oversaw medical diagnostic products for both the Army and the Navy. When he heard about the Theranos' device, Weighgar like everyone else Elizabeth had pitched, was intrigued.
