The Freedom of Giving
In the New Testament, there is a freedom. There's a tone of freedom that maybe is a little bit less evident in the Old Testament where it talks about giving cheerfully and liberally. Most American Christians have chosen to interpret this as the tithe has been abolished. But Jesus says, no, you're missing the whole point. You should look at the old way of generosity as a bare minimum, not as a ceiling.
