When we were born, we internalize the essence of our primary caregivers. We don't have a nurturing essence to grab on to when we become adults. So part of developing a soothing voice from within is being in a nervous system or the presence of soothing voices and experiencing that enough to know i can pull them inside. And if you can't, that's when you call a loving person. You actually have the physical person there helping co regulate those reallypainful experiences. The more you can ride through them, not fix them, not change them, but meet them and hold them in a more tender way, the more you're actually releasing and leading towards integration in your brain.
