Nixon and Kennedy's War on the Fairness Doctrine
Kennedy targeted right wing radio broadcasters with, uh, IRS audits. He leaned on the FCC chairman to get rulings that enhanced enforcement of fairness doctrine solely against conservative voices. If they aired their viewpoints unbalanced, stations that aired them would get into trouble with the FCC via unfairness complaints. Not if unbalanced liberal points of view were being broadcast. They didn't get in trouble. So it was again targeted only towards one side.
