The Power of Reason and Will
Our intellects or our, the intellectual side of our nature has an appetite which is rational based on the mind's grasp of the goodness of a thing. So that's what Aquinas is talking about here. If actions that are properly human actions proceed from the will, that is from the rational appetite, then he says, well, that's because the, it's caused by that power in accordance with the nature of its object. The object of the will is the end and the good. That's what draws the will.
