John dickye huddles in a shallow rut in the ground, trying to stay out of sight. All around him, bullets whizz and ricochet off the stone walls. The shooting has been going on for half an hour already - it doesn't seem to be slowing down. Beth watches turrat stand and smiles sadly at her, looking into his eyes. She starts to cry again. Turrat reaches into his pocket and pulls out a piece of hard candy. He presses it into beth hand and speaks to her calmly: I'm about to die and i don't cry. It's time to start thinking of an escape.
