Schools that disproportionately enroll black and brown students are structured in such a way that behavioral standards expectations are defined far more in terms of compliance. JQ: Some schools for instance prioritize the type of rote compliance that we're referring to, and why this matters for issues of sort of race and racial equity is that those are also the same kinds of schools that disproportionately enrollblack and brown students. "I mean it's ringing true like yeah I'm a color inside the line because I'm not trying to get in trouble," he says.
